My New Orleans Fashion Finds

Well, it’s been somewhat of a whirlwind this past week!  My trip to New Orleans was simply amazing to say the least.  It was my first time traveling to the city and I wasn’t quite sure what to expect of it.  I guess I really didn’t have expectations of the city itself….  I was so eager about the Music Festival, that I hadn’t really considered what the city might bring.  Boy, was I in for a very nice surprise….

New Orleans is simply breathtaking….  I say that literally and figuratively.  It’s hot there — thick with humidity.  But the thing is… somehow you don’t really mind the heat.  It’s one of those places that just kinda lulls you into this affair with it.  And before you know it, you’re anxious, eager, just pining away to have more of it.   The city is beautiful. Old and rich — with deep rooted culture — yet somehow fresh and exhilarating at the same time.

So, this will be the first in a series of blogs dedicated to the city and some of my great finds.  First up is Fashion…. on Magazine Street no less.

Now, if you’ve been to New Orleans and you love good shopping, then I am positive that you already know about Magazine Street.  But if you’ve never been, then you absolutely need to add it to your  To Do list while there.  Magazine Street is a 3 mile stretch of cool shops, bars, restaurants and just people.  And for me,  Magazine Street just exuded New Orleans character and charm.  So many vintage shops and cute little boutiques — and all of them with their own unique edge and flair.  I loved these shops mostly because everything was so different.  If you are tired of the mall scene (and even if you are not) then Magazine Street is for you.

I really had to stop myself.  I found so many glam girl items — chic dresses and tops – cute shorts and blazers — but my favorite find happened to be in a French Quarter in boutique called Jackie’s.  I must tell you, as soon as I saw this one  — I had to have it.  It is beyond funky!  I love it.  Very Carrie Bradshaw.  Now, the hard part, I just have to find some place to wear it!  What do you think?
