OOTD: Gingham Style

DSC_0051I have to admit that I’ve been in somewhat of a wardrobe funk over the past few weeks.  It’s been unusually cold and dreary and I don’t know….  I just found myself extremely frustrated by it and completely unmotivated by anything in my closet.  Ughh.  I haven’t felt like that way in quite awhile….  and if I’m honest, there were quite a few days that I wasn’t at my fashion best.  Double Ughh.

DSC_0049Looking back over these 2 weeks, I probably should have buckled down and found a way to be more creative with what I had… but I just wasn’t feeling it.  I guess with Easter coming this weekend and a moderate break in the cooler weather, I got my inspiration back today!  I decided to take advantage of the gorgeous weather to put together  a few spring items that I picked up awhile ago.  It’s time to get back to blogging and being fashionable again!!

So, let’s start first with gingham print…  this trend has definitely been on my list of must have items for spring this season.  Not that gingham is anything new, it’s been around forever, but I feel like it’s been given a fresh new makeover recently with all the new colors available!  This is definitely much different than that picnic table version of years past!  Gingham is ultra versatile and I am ready to declare it the must statement piece for spring and summer!DSC_0038DSC_0063

Are you loving gingham right now?

Just How DO You Wear Those Distressed Boyfriend Jeans??

DSC_0014I am completely crushing on distressed jeans right now!!  Not that I don’t already have a pair of bootleg distressed jeans in my closet from a few years back.  I do.  But… of course…. I don’t want those jeans (no, not those…  they are bootleg cut for goodness sake!!!).  Instead, I’m really feeling skinny jean and boyfriend jean distressed cuts.  And I have been on an absolute mission to find the perfect pair ever since.  Boyfriend jeans in particular.  There is just something about that boyfriend jean cut that makes every look seem so effortless yet so chic!  I love it!DSC_0020

Anyway, I chose these jeans from Zara online.  I was not disappointed.  My experience so far with Zara has been quite impressive and I must admit I love these jeans in particular.  I’m not normally a baggy jean girl at all (not since the early 90’s anyway – Cross Colours anyone??).  But these are so funky and edgy that I had to have them.DSC_0028

So….  how do YOU wear your boyfriend jeans?DSC_0016DSC_0018

Homage to Spring: Prabal Gurung Peplum and Pumps

IMG_0968Since the release of the Prabal Gurung Collection for Target, I’ve been somewhat obsessed with adding some of the pieces to my closet.  The thing is….  I didn’t make it to the store on the initial release day!  So, when I started hearing that much of the collection had sold out in one day….  I was, of course, disappointed.  But with Target being a weekly shopping destination for me, I decided to just check out what was there anyway.  To my surprise, there were many items remaining in my size.  That’s pretty much all it took…  I started checking out other Targets AND checking online to see what other pieces I might be able to find.  I’ve actually been lucky enough to gather up quite a few fabulous pieces (2 dresses and a skirt + today’s featured pieces).IMG_0957IMG_0979

Now, if you read my last post, you know I am over winter at this point.  So, today’s post is my homage to the arrival of spring.  I’m officially starting the season on my own.  And with much of the collection featuring fabulous floral prints and beautiful spring hues, today’s post will likely be the first of many that feature items from the collection as we move more into warmer weather.IMG_0945

Faux Fur and Leopard Booties

DSC_0043If you are a regular reader of the blog, you know that I’ve been feverishly trying to get all of my last winter weather items in before the official start of spring.  Obviously, I am very quickly running out of time so this may very well be my last post where I feature something that is truly winter-esque!  I have to admit though that I am  a little over winter anyway.  It’s been a huge tease all season and now as we get close to the end….  it decides to show up.  Yep, I’m over it — I’m ready to start tackling those spring trends!!

DSC_0013But until then…  I thought I’d feature my final winter look.  I picked up this faux

fur from Nordstrom Rack prior to the end of the year last year.  At about $35, I thought it was a steal!  Mind you…  it is a little big and the sleeves are unusually long (note the photo where I mysteriously look like I have no right hand!!)

DSC_0016But overall, I like the jacket.  I mean it’s certainly not bad for $35 bucks!  I also love these leopard booties.  I decided to pair the two together just to give the look a little more edge.  While I am retiring the fur for awhile, please know you’ll be seeing much more of the booties!

Party Style: Waxed Denim Edition

DSC00655These waxed denim jeans were my my first experience with J. Brand.  Yes, I was a J. Brand virgin too!  Anyway, I was quite impressed with them overall.  The fit was SO spot on —  just immaculate.  And I absolutely loved the color.  But probably the most surprising thing was just how comfortable they were.  I mean, pants like these usually make me nervous.  You know what I mean, right?  Nervous that you are just one wrong move away from busting right out of them!  Well — I didn’t get that with these.  Even though they fit like a glove, I could easily maneuver on and off the bikes for these photos.  These pants had all the sexiness of leather but without the price tag or the fit and breathability issues.  I simply loved them.

DSC00651Now, believe it or not, I had literally been waiting since my Waxed Denim post last fall to wear these bad boys.  Incredible, right?  Well, I had high hopes to rock them for my Friday fun at CIAA this weekend… but it turns out, I had a terrible headache all day so I didn’t quite make it out to the party!  (Yep — I was my OWN party pooper!)DSC00658

BUT I did take some shots of my look earlier in the day.  I ventured out to the local Motorcycles of Charlotte Dealership (home of Ducati, BMW, Triump and MV Agusta Motorcycles).  The owner was nice enough to let me use some of his amazing motorcycles there as my backdrop, so even though I didn’t make it to my event, I felt a little obligated to share the photos with you anyway.

Are you all still rockin’ waxed denim? Let me know what you think!!!

Perfect Party Style: The Feathered Tulle Skirt

DSC_0023Yep, it’s CIAA week in Charlotte!!  Yay!!!  So, what does that mean exactly, you ask?  Well…. 180,000 visitors to the city for the week and tons and tons and TONS of parties.  Parties during the day, parties at night, concerts, comedy shows and lots of celebrity sightings!  This is absolutely the biggest party week in Charlotte all year long.  Oh and I suppose I should mention that there is a CIAA Basketball Tournament going on too!

DSC_0020Of course, fashion and style are at their height during the week’s activities.  You absolutely MUST be at your most fabulous!  In fact,I’m always on the lookout for great looks throughout the year just for this week!  Crazy, right?DSC_0017

Anyway, this feathered tulle skirt is one of the looks that I picked up over the holidays.  It was on my wish list for Christmas and my brother and sister in law bought it for me.  When I added it to the list, I immediately knew it would be perfect for CIAA, it’s such a fun, party girl piece!!DSC_0038

Check out these other tulle skirt fashion inspirations on Chictopia.  I decided to style my look with a little bit more “rocker” edge.  What do you think?  What is your “go-to” party style?
