You know… I am completely surprised that color blocking is still going strong. Not surprised in a bad way…I love color blocking… but we all know that fashion can be quite fickle at times. This trend seems to be an exception though. And I mean in a big way… it just doesn’t seem to be going anywhere any time soon and in fact, has been getting reinvented each season! So at what point is it no longer a trend? Hmmm….
I’ll let you ponder that for a moment. In the meantime, a color blocked sweater, blouse or top is an easy way to work this trend into your wardrobe. In particular right now as color blocked looks are no longer focusing only on the body of a piece… many looks now are blocking the cuffs, the collars and even the sleeves!
I chose this sweater in fact because it was blocked on the back panel and the cuffs. Add in the fabulous oxblood color and elbow patches…. and it was pretty much a done deal!
What I’m Wearing: J. Crew Factory Sweater, Victoria’s Secret Boyfriend Jeans, Zara Heels, Louis Vuitton Damier Speedy, Guess Leopard Print Watch, Arden B. Accessories
Where Am I: Lakepoint Plaza
Are you surprised that color blocking is still hot? Love it or hate it? And when do you think a trend becomes a classic?
Your sweater looks great! And I love the statement jewelry 🙂

That sweater is so perfect! Love the elbow patches, and the back color, wowzers! I feel like color blocking is already kind of a classic, just a souped up and often more flattering version of classic pieces (I’m particularly a fan of color blocking as side panels that nip in the waist). Fantastic look Kenya!

P.S. Is it just me, or does your hair look super long in these photos? So pretty!
Thanks Alexandra!! Yeah, I definitely put color blocking in the classic category! It just keeps coming back and I love it each time! And no, not just you, my hair is longer now!! 😉

this look is really gorgeous. love the fall colors and the color-blocked sweater is so chic! i do love some color-blocking, but i believe that the term was the thing to come into fashion – outfits have been comprised of different colors arranged for so long… i hope it sticks around though because it’s awesome!
Thanks Kelsey! You are right… it’s been around for awhile… since the 60’s or so I think. It keeps re-emerging in different ways. I think it is definitely on it’s way (if not already) to being a classic! I certainly haven’t tired of it — not yet!! 🙂
Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

Color blocking is the best – I think it’s well on its way to becoming a (dare I say) classic.
You look so fab – love the color palette here – burgundy is my favorite color for the winter months!
Thanks Deborah! I have to agree with you… I think it is quickly becoming a classic! This is definitely my favorite fall and winter color! Nothing like it!

First, your new hairdo is lovely! And second, I’m with you – color blocking looks like it’s sticking around for a while. I feel like we see it everywhere and I’m not sure that it’s even labelled as “color-blocking” anymore. Maybe it’ll become a classic pattern of sorts?
Thanks Grace!! Hmmm… you are right… you don’t hear the term a lot anymore which I think is another nod towards “classic”!

I’m always gonna love color blocking…
